Rev. Dr. Lauran Bethell
Getting to know lauran
Rev. Dr. Lauran Bethell is originally from California and has been working for three decades of behalf of and caring for women and children who have been exploited and abused. As the first Director of the New Life Center in Chiang Mai, Thailand (1987), Lauran pioneered projects in Southeast Asia that specifically address the issues of child prostitution and trafficking of women and children. The Center was haven of prevention, as well as restitution, enabling victims and the vulnerable to find healing and hope in Jesus.
In January 2001 Lauran moved to Europe to serve as an international consultant and is now based in The Netherlands. Lauran is passionate about her work, which has her traveling more than 100,000 miles a year, speaking, leading conferences, organizing events, mentoring and consulting. Her main goal is to initiate and encourage new grass-roots Christian projects addressing the exploitation and abuse of women and children, bringing them hope and healing through Jesus. But she is happiest and most content when she's feet up on the couch in her cozy apartment outside Amsterdam, with a great cappuccino, her gorgeous Siberian cat Mischa warming her legs, and her Bible open on her lap!
