Vice-President, Communications and promotion
Since 2007, Renee James has been the communications director for Canadian Baptist Women of Ontario and Quebec (CBWOQ) and editor of its award-winning magazine live. Prior to this position, she spent 19 years working her way up the ladder at two of Canada’s largest ad agencies and another seven years as administrative pastor at a downtown Toronto Convention Baptist church.
Renee earned her first degree in English Literature and Mass Communications from York University, Toronto, so her appreciation of good words and images, chosen well, comes naturally. An award-winning writer, she's had devotionals published for Scripture Union Canada's online Bible reading app - The Story. And she’s a regular contributor to a number of magazines and online blogs including Christianity Today’s CT Women, Gifted For Leadership and Leadership Journal. She also contributes, on occasion, to Faith Today.
Married to Jeffry since 1986 and a mother since 2007, she worship leads, speaks on spiritual formation, mission, prayer and human trafficking; does prayer walks through her neighbourhood, leads workshops on how to walk a labyrinth and seizes every opportunity to invite women to make space for God.
Renee loves to write about the grace notes in our lives – those notes of lament and hope we all sing that glide, finally, into the only note that matters . . . God’s unyielding love for us. In August 2017, she experienced many of those grace notes on her first-ever CBWOQ short-term mission trip - to Haiti.
