Four ideas for being effective in cross-cultural ministry :
- Go into it with the idea that you will gain more than you will give
- Have an open mind to learn about the culture you are starting to work with
- Ask a team of prayer warriors to be a support to you and to the ministry and keep them updated on specifics to pray for.
- Expect discouraging moments and have a mentor or spiritual director you can talk to.
Someone who would be happy to give you input into the area of ministering cross-culturally :
Faith is the founder of Groups of Hope, a ministry to those traumatized, and has worked with Canada’s indigenous communities as well as overseas.
